More than likely Yahoo and other free mail accounts don't let you use those any more, you have to use your web browser to do that.

My email program suddenly fails to connect to the ymail pop and smtp servers. No error just doesn't connect.?
I am using the OSX mail program and it has connected to the ymail servers perfectly since I got my ymail address (1 or 2 months). All the pop %26amp; smtp settings are correct, I am using SSL and the correct ports but it still won't receive or send mail. I have checked the passwords are correct and I can login to the webmail site. Do they have a server problem? The mail connection doctor which comes with the OS cannot connect either.
Any ideas?

Assume from a free hosting account that I picked up I can neither send nor recieve e-mails without paying for it. Now with that in mind what I want to be able to do is have a contact form and someone just be able to have it send me e-mail. But ofcourse the server will not allow it and this contact form is posted on this server. Is there a way to be able to post my page on the server that I have, but have a contact form on it which will somehow bypass the "un-allowment" of getting an e-mail from the contact form and somehow call something such as Googles free smtp? Then have the contact form just send the information or contact the smtp.gmail.com and e-mail it to my Google mail or another e-mail adress? So I am trying to bypass the e-mail, or lack of of the hosting company.

if you created the form from scratch including the send mail script then edit the server name, if this form is a template from a hosting provider, most likely its hardcoded and you can't change it

POP3 email can be painful to troubleshoot. By "bouncing back" to you mean it isn't letting you log in, or are you logging in and it's it sending back emails that you send?
Edit: I would say your problem then is either your login information or a firewall/isp issue. If your email service isn't provided by your ISP, they might be blocking POP3. It could also be a port forwarding issue with your software or router firewall (looks like the guy below me knows which ports to foward).

Is the server that my email is stored on P03, IMPA or SMTP?
I am trying to access a web site for school, which is: http://dubai-award.dm.gov.ae/winner96htm... but it will not populate, or I cannot access it. I had this happen to me a few times. Ususally it is because your email software is having a problem communicating over the internet to retrieve your email from email service providers like Hotmail or Yahoo. These sites are where your email "lives" and where your email software is trying to retrieve them from. It's kind of like picking up a phone and wanting to call a friend, but you don't dial the correct number to connect to your friend. To have a connection you need to have the correct phone number to call and talk to your friend. I'm guessing you are using "Outlook" and this error message comes up. When you tried setting up your email, it requested your POP3 Server. This is when your ISP information needed to be entered. More then likely you may had typed in the wrong information. To correct this problem It only takes about 2 minutes to go into your email program and make one or two clicks to correct it. Since I don't know your ISP provider (who you have your Internet service through) I can' give you exactly what to type in because each ISP has a different name and information to type in.
The short answer is to call your ISP provider and ask to speak to a tech over the phone because you are having a problem with your email service. The person you talk with will walk you step by step to correct your problem. Its really easy to correct, but make sure you write down what your tech tells you to enter in. That way you can add other email accounts to Outlook and not have to go through all this again.
PS- Since you are spending the time talking to a tech, try finding out if your ISP has a security suite that you can download from their site. Most ISP include Security Suites (Virus protection, Etc) that are provided to you at no additional cost because you are a customer. The deal is, that you have to ask or they won't tell- The reason is because the software is licensed and the ISP gets invoiced for everytime its downloaded.

I am visiting in Juneau from Seattle. I use MS Office 2003 Outlook and my carrier is Comcast. I am logged into my sister's wireless system (cable) and typed in her WEP key and am receiving all my emails but cannot send any. A friend said I needed to go in and change my current Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to that of my sister's. I tried to find that out yesterday but read where that information is not available. In a nutshell, Outlook needs to be able to connect to a POP3 server to receive your email. To send email, it needs to connect to an SMTP server. Unfortunately, many service providers are now blocking access to remote SMTP servers (an email server not on their network) and charging a premium fee for access to it. Additionally, to help combat SPAM, some service providers are blocking access to their SMTP servers unless you are on their network.
So, if at home, you have Comcast as your email host, and you are in Juneau, and Comcast blocks access to their SMTP server from remote networks, you won't be able to send email. You can check to see if Comcast has a "Webmail" site that allows you to log into a web site they host, to send emails from their account.

Email not sending after uninstalling Norton smtp mail server error 10060?
hi any advise please i have just uninstalled Norton antivirus and internet security this came with my comp free for 3 months, trials run out so i have uninstalled it, now i cant send or receive e mails im using Incredimail as my default but its telling me it can not connect to the server, smtp mail server error 10060 but the internet is working fine, any advise please... thanks

If it has just happened in the past few hours and you are using gmail, they have had a problem which has been fixed in the past 20 minutes.

I am trying to set up my itouch to use the mail feature to access my yahoo.co.jp email account. The default function is only good for yahoo.com. I can set the account up under the "other" mail option if I know the names of the Incoming Mail server (POP) and the Outgoing Mail server (SMTP). i have tried outlook express and thunderbird, neither of which accept my smtp settings. i can retrieve email though. i have been on this site and used all the different port and security options out there. no one knows anything, help!

u have set up your smtp to use outgoing authentication..is this required for your email server?..if not do the following

You can only use this with Yahoo Mail Pro...Mac Mail typically has easy instructions and if you call they should tell you what you need to do.

you can only get this information by signing up to Yahoo! Delivers members account. Go to yahoo! mail- then options then POP3 forwarding ans server details.

You want to see the first thing it responds with is "220" and a server address. That means that you can contact the server. Type in "EHLO test.com". If you are talking about using Yahoo mail to receive from a POP# account, you'll need to open your email client on your 'puter, select Tools/Accounts/Mail tab, select your account in the little window, then click Properties/Servers...there is your account info!
