When does Email Server use "SMTP"?& When does it use "POP3"?

SMTP is the Simple Mail Transport Protocol. It's used to deliver mail back and forth between servers.





POP3 is the Post Office Protocol version 3. It allows you as the client to retreive mail from your mailbox.

When does Email Server use "SMTP"?%26amp; When does it use "POP3"?
SMTP is a protocol used to send mail out, and POP is a protocol to retrieve received mail to your email program.
