About ketur's comment. Using CDONTS does not allow you to specify an external smtp server unless you're running ASP 3.0. CDONTS seemed the obvious answer to me as well, but the question specifically asks about using an *EXTERNAL* smtp server.

Well, if it's a Microsoft SMTP server then you can use CDONTS.
